Comic#115-Bonding With Derby

I swear I don't hate Everybody Loves Raymond as much as I seem to write about how much I hate Everybody Loves Raymond. The tofu turkey that jiggled for 17 minutes of that 23 minute episode pretty much KILLED ME, but I just like to bring it up since my family adores the show and I find it to basically be the SAME episode over and over and over again. With maybe a slight change in Deborah's hair.

As for CLEAN SLATE:
Yes..that is my DVD. Yes, I adore that movie. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the world who was counting down the days until it came out. Perhaps I'm just empathetic with the dog who walks into walls. I'm not so great with depth perception myself. At least once in every five doors I walk through I catch my shoulder on the door frame. Hmmm this might also explain my obsession with eye patches...

Any other Clean Slaters out there who think Momento is just a cheap rip off? There an amnesia movie like this that predated both?

Oh yeah and to explain the punchline in the title about the punchline  you might want to read Comic #37- Everybody Loves Derby (which contains some of my favorite typos ever found in fluff!)

Speaking of typos... do you mean Memento?

Where's Waldo moment- toaster struedel to anyone who finds my cameo in this comic.

Are you in the fishtank?

(colleen i also don't want to be typo-cop, but there are a couple "you"s missing from the Raymond bubbles)

Derby has the best expression(s?).

HA!  "Clean Slate" rocks like some sort of hard, geological formation!  I can't go into the "Memento" rip-off thing without going into film major mode, and that's never good for anyone.

Speaking of obscure Dana Carvey movies, how about "Opportunity Knocks"?

Perhaps those are Annie-hands holding up Kurt in panel 6?

I could really go for a struedel.

You see, when you were pitching the comic to me on Sunday, I wasn't sure if it was going to be amazing, but wow! The whole Raymond running joke propelled it too new levels of hilarious. Nice work madame.

I don't so much hate Raymond as I hate the "working-class"-comedian-who-gets-a-sitcom formula, where the lovable husband is basically a functional retard whose shrewish wife constantly screeches about how stupid he is.  The husband always gets into wacky situations by doing stupid things and then lying about them to the wife/shrew, which makes it worse.  Then she later forgives him, because after all, he's just a man, and men are stupid, and thank god women marry them or else they'd be falling into woodchippers left and right.

Thankfully, the supporting characters on Raymond saved the show from becoming just another of those formulaic sitcoms.

On the other side is the Raymond spin-off King of Queens, which I actually enjoy more because both the husband and wife are accomplices in stupidity, rather than adversaries.

I, too, eagerly awaited Clean Slate.  I haven't seen the movie in a great long while, so I hardly remember it, but I do remember enjoying it.  And yes, I also agree that I thought of it when I heard about Memento.  It's like Clean Slate's dramatic Bizarro clone.  The amnesia angle is always fun, and I'm sure there's some old film noir movie that covered the same ground.  DOA is kind of similar, in that it's a backwards mystery that the main character has to unravel.

And tone wins the "Where's Annie" contest! Congratulations! Your congratulatory struedel is waiting for you at your local struedel distributer. Um...i hope you don't mind we kinda don't have the money to pay for it...

Thanks Robin and THE Mr. M!

DOA? I don't know what this is you speak of? In all fairness I never actually have seen Memento. I gotta get me a rental thinger one of these days. I'm only cultured up until 1994 culture!

Hahaha! That woodchipper comment was hysterical. (I've only fell in a woodchipper once, and only on the right.)

The dad on the show is the only thing I like, but that's just because he's Frankenstein. Brooks style.

I used the term "dork" throughout elementary, Jr. High, High School, College, and all the way up to my middle 30's with out knowing that the word is used to describe a body part.

What a dork I am.

I'm pretty sure "dork" only means THAT in that one single movie...or else I've also been throwing around male genitalia...in conversations....not ACTUALLY throwing as in the physical sense of the....crap! SUBJECT CHANGE: So how about that transist strike. Crazy no?
