Fluff Radio Review #48: Nipple-Controlled CYOA
11/07/06 at 2:54pm
Is it just me or is this week's episode even more hyper than usual? Between Annie's juggling and my "heeeey my beer got small!" it's definitely an interesting one to be sure!
Did you hear? We're doing another contest...this one in honor of the upcoming 50th show! Basically we want you to Roast Us: To call up our voicemail line (775-416-5492) and make fun of us!
The funniest Roaster will get a prize. Don't think we're serious? Well, we're SO SERIOUS
we sang a song about it!
I put one of the other new songs we did this show
"The Lord Entered My Body"
in the feed. (Mikey's coconut bra solo is TOTALLY the best part of this!)
Do you think I should make a habit to include these "BONUS" things in the feed, or do you think it might clutter it up considering they are just clips from the show? Diss! Cuss!

It's a 'Turkey on Mr. Bean's Head' phone and to answer the phone you lift the turkey off Mr. Bean's head and put it over your own.

Not sure I would say
more
hyper in this particular episode. Then again, from my narrow podcast listener view, your hyperness is at a point where subtle gradations are difficult to detect.
Speaking of hyper, that Hyperspace "choose your own adventure book" is one of the ones I had as a kid, though I don't think it was one that I actually tried to "win." I mostly remember this Volcano one where you and your friend are trying to get this sword out of the lava tube of a dormant volcano. Somehow I never was able to get the right ending despite the dog earing and stuff.
I think "the lord came in my ear" should've qualified for a best line taken out of context. That one made me do a double take, or whatever the auditory equivalent of a double take would be.

I am so all about CYOA's. Long before Fluff I used to host a site that was pretty much all CYOA's which
eventually inspired me to make one for fluff.
I've got a whole collection of vintage CYOA books in my apartment. Fun thing to do with CYOA's...read them straight forward. For some reason I find this ridiculously amazing and confusing.
Yeah I consider having "the lord came in my ear" as one of the show's quotes of the weeks, but I was a little afraid of the people that would find us by googling that. That's a group of fetish-folk I don't think I want to meet.
Hey what did you think about having the song seperately on the feed, was it just in the way, or was it cool thing to do?

Your place must be absolutely *packed* with random stuff-- the accordion and the shirtprinting equipment come to mind.
RE: Songs: Yes, please! Feed us songs.
Otherwise, I'd've had to cut them out of the show myslf, and that's a hassle.

Yeah, I'd second that, I always end up covered in paper cuts and paste trying to do that. And a LOT of broken iPods.
p.s. I think my right nipple must be broken. I'd better bring it back to the shop and get it checked out.

I did that! I gave up after page three though. A CYO-Dr. Suess book though, that I would rock.

My sister and I both read Goosebumps books when we were younger, and she lent me one which was CYOA. Having not told me, and me not reading the instructions, I attempted to read it straight. It took me quite a while to work out what I was doing wrong.
I

I remember those 'Give Yourself Goosebumps' books! Someone's selling off the complete collection of them on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Give-Yourself-Goosebumps-Stine-1-to-20-Complete-CYOA_W0QQite...
Ah, such classics as "Secret Agent Grandma" and "Escape From Camp Run-For-Your-Life". Your parents must really hate you if they send you to Camp Run-For-Your-Life. I mean come on, it's right there in the name!
I like to treat all books like CYOA, I just tear out all the pages and staple them back together in a different order. This works better when you combine two books together. You're just reading Shakespear and then *BAM* Iago confesses his undying love for Harry Potter, then cuts his foot off for trying to escape!! I
really
didn't expect that!
Man I miss my library card

Wooo welcome Ms. Penguin!
It's funny because I DID find some of those bands through the Dresden Dolls, like Jason Webley who they had toured with, but I found HUMANWINE completely seperately of the DD when I was talking to some people about good music in Boston. So weird they went to high school together! Man, my high school is proving to have been just as crappy as it seemed at the time!

(It's okay, Colleen, I'm back. Just skipped the computer for a couple of days due to a horrible, but short-lived, stomach flu. I'd give you details, but... well, I'm sure you don't need 'em. I'm only just now getting reintroduced to the idea of food. Slowly.)
Hooray for CYOA! With my mad selling skillz I got two copies of "Secret of the Ninja" bought and donated to our local charity for the Holiday Book Drive. But with a title that awesome, how could anyone say no?
Also, hello penguin! I have penguins at my LJ for li'l mood icons. See?
Here.
