if you ever visit colleen, you guys should make more fluff– then you could sell it as a reunion cd or something
has anyone else noticed a reoccurring theme of tampon weapons?
I think they're trying to get a collection together to pitch to Skymall. I know I'd buy a 'weampon' mid Atlantic.
Also, the annie news is seriously sob-worthy... Damn you sanders! Where will we get our poop stories from now?! Don't make me hunt you down when I move out to Cali in September!! Gah!

Are you really moving to California? Neat! What part?
I know... sadness... We still have two shows left. I'm editing the second to last one, which is why it's taking forever. To be sure, whenever I go to NY or Colleen comes to CA we'll probably do a little something

I've applied for a six month student exchange to study film in San Diego, which is a fairly safe bet I'll get it (I have a 2.5 in 3 chance). I've got some family up San Francisco way, and some contacts in and around LA-kinda area, so I'll probably be traveling around a lot...
So is this the, uh, show of which there are flickr pictures you're doing at the mo, or the one before it? (Secrecy?) Boo! 2 shows left! Arg! Freddy II and Phreddy will be so disapponted...
p.s. I just watched a film with Bitch in it. Disturbing, yet somehow awesome.

It's because I was meant to meet someone there... Someone told me to meet them... in... Damn, there really isn't anyway to make a good 'meet me in st. louis' joke...
Yeah, she's in a film called Shortbus, by the guy who wrote & directed Hedwig and the Angry Inch (which I just saw recently, and now kick myself for not seeing sooner)... Shortbus is... a great film... but has a LOT of really real adult content... Like, banned in several countries adult content... Plus it has the Wau Wau Sisters in it, which is pretty awesome, and Fluff related aswell! Plus, it's set in Brooklyn (right?)!

I have seen Shortbus. Not as good as Hedwig, but still good. Speaking of John Cameron Mitchell and Bitch, if you search on youtube for the Bright Eyes song "first day of my life" (errr something like that), you will get to watch a very lovely and (for lack of a less corny term) heart-warming video directy by JCM and featuring Bitch and her gf Daniela Sea (who is also on the L Word).
Also, speaking of heart-warming music videos, look at the new Ditty Bops video!

Damn happily-in-love people. They almost warm my icy heart! Almost.
Uh, not sure what flickr pictures you're talking about, but i suspect they are from the very last show, which Colleen is editing.

I loooooooooove John Cameron Mitchell. But I concur, Hedwig was better. That's gonna be hard to top!

I don't think you ever could really top The 'Wig., it has serious awesomeness to the factor of twelve. I gotta say, however, that after hearing so much about Shortbus, I was pleasantly surprised by how, in some bizzare way, it wasn't really explicit, but rather used the explicit subject matter as a perfectly legitimate way of telling the story (sorry, film class seeping out here...). It's really refreshing when any artist, writter, director, etc. can really use something so taboo in a mature, non exploitative manner. One small criticism, it doesn't exactly break the stereotype of male homosexuals in cinema, but hey! It's not meant to really... Plus, it's pretty funny.
What were we talking about? Nice Hat?
p.s. Nice Bright Eyes video! There was a similar video for some crappy singer songwritter over here recently, complete with safe 'token' couples... JCM's is a heck of a lot better though... Also, DAMN YOU DITTY BOPS!! Why must you release such great music and tempt my heart strings with paying for stupid Airmail for fancy pop-up CD cases!! Why cant you just move to Europe?! Don't you care about your fans AT ALL!! Gah!

Can you buy their album on iTunes? I mean, I know it's on there but I'm not sure if there's some kinda weird international compatibility issue, like there is with some dvds. The new album artwork is cool though. There's a sliding pull tab thingy on the front, a pop up inside, and a rotating wheel for the tracklist on the back. I didn't have to pay any shipping, because I bought it at their show last weekend (neener neener
). Well, if you come here, at least maybe you'll have a good chance of seeing them play.
Regarding Shortbus, I agree. I remember a lot of people called it "porn" when it first came out, which I thought was really off-base. It's frank and candid about sex, not exploitative. It's supposed to make you think about relationships, not get off. Even though it is sexually explicit, it's not disturbing. It's not like in Pink Flamingoes where the guy smashes and kills a chicken while he's fucking his girlfriend. THAT was disturbing.

Remind me NEVER to watch Pink Flamingos... I caved and bought it on iTunes, who want to wait 2 weeks for somethig to arrive? A good album, though! Kinda different, but still very much of the cool. It's rather annoying though, the US and UK iTunes stores are different, so there's some stuff that you still can't get over here that you can over there... Grr... Plus, we pay the equivalent of $1.60 per song, and $16 (or $20) an album, with TV shows being a pretty crappy $3.60 a show, and we don't even get feature films... On the plus side, we do get Torchwood, which kinds makes up for all that! If you haven't seen it, it's like a Welsh 'Buffy or Xena, but with aliens and stuff aswell... It's pretty awesome. It can be pretty moving, well, not when they're chasing a sports car-driving blowfish, but some of the other stuff is...

omg, xena PLUS aliens! AWESOMETASTIC! I hear good things about your show Dr. Who as well.
As for the DB album, I'm extremely fond of the first four tracks, and "i stole your wishes" and "feel from the outside in". It's kind of weird... with their albums, i always like the first four or five tracks best. Not sure what that's about.
As for Pink Flamingos, I guess it's kind of worth seeing once, since it's such a big part of the queer lexicon, but do be prepared to be completely horrified (and don't expect for it to make any sense, plot-wise). Some of it has sort of grown on me, though. there's a part where Divine goes into a store and steals a big raw steak, which she proceeds to stick in her underwear on her crotch. It's really gross, but it kind of cracks me up now too, because she looks so pleased with herself. Actually, that could be from a different Divine film, maybe Female Trouble? They kind of blend together for me. Anyway, I think Leslie Hall actually borrows a lot of her mannerisms and aesthetic from Divine.
You know, it occurs to me now, FRR has an awful lot of gay fans... hmm.

Actually, I saw her LAST NIGHT! It was AWESOME. I expected it to be awesome, but it was even awesomer than I expected! She is so goddamn funny. You can tell she's tired by the end of the show, though. She starts kind of falling out of character a little. Still, SO amazing. I got the green "zombie killer" tshirt too, because it's amazing.

Woo! I love Torchwood! I've been watching it on BBC America. My cable has this thing called "On Demand" which means I can watch some shows whenever I feel like it-- after the network puts them on the site. Torchwood is not available as quickly as some other shows, which can be very frustrating. I'm partway through Season Two. (I have yet to see Gwen's wedding). I agree, the show is very Buffy, what with the wisecracking group of folks who repeatedly keep the world from being destroyed. Also James Marsters gets to practice his English accent some more, and that's always good.
